E&T Mag: Biometrics move beyond fingerprints and retina scans
It’s nearly 30 years since The Usual Suspects pulled off one of cinema’s greatest plot twists. The unassuming con artist ‘Verbal’ – played by a now discredited Kevin Spacey - leaves the police station, loses his palsied limp, stretches his awkwardly twisted hands, and with a few brisk footsteps, reveals we don’t know who he is at all.
But unlike in the movies, it’s difficult to disguise who we are when we move. Long before technology proved it to be true, people have been identifiable by their own particular gait – we instinctively recognise family and friends from afar by how they amble, stroll, shuffle or swagger.
